Check Valves

September 17, 2014 // 0 Comments

A check valve, clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve is a valve that normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction. Check valves are two-port valves, meaning they have two openings in the body, one for fluid to enter and the other for fluid to leave. There are various types of check valves used in a wide variety of applications. Check valves are often part of common household items. Although they are available in a wide range of sizes and costs, check valves generally are very small, simple, or inexpensive. Check valves work automatically and most are not controlled by a person or any external control; accordingly, most do not have any valve handle or stem. The bodies (external shells) of most check valves are made of plastic or metal. An important concept in check valves is the cracking pressure which is the minimum upstream pressure at which the valve will operate. Typically the check valve is designed for and can therefore be specified for a specific cracking pressure.   Industrial processes Check valves are used in many fluid systems such as those in chemical and power plants, and in many other industrial [...]

Rotary Valves When capacity and performance are the requirements rotary valves are the answer.  Popular rotary products include butterfly, eccentric plug, full bore pipeline, high performance butterfly and segmented ball. Eccentric Plug Valves The eccentric plug rotary control valve features an eccentrically mounted plug or ball, which combines rotary valve efficiency with globe valve ruggedness. Full Bore Pipeline Ball Valves Full- or reduced-bore ball valves provide a solution for throttling and severe service applications in gas transmission lines, gas distribution, or liquid pipelines. High Performance Butterfly Valves Fisher High Performance Butterfly Valves feature an eccentrically mounted disc and are known for their wide application range and shutoff capability. Segmented Ball Valves Vee-Ball is a segmented ball valve which features a patented contoured segmented V-notch [...]

What Is A Ball Valve?

August 18, 2014 // 0 Comments

A ball valve is a valve with a spherical disc, the part of the valve which controls the flow through it. The sphere has a hole, or port, through the middle so that when the port is in line with both ends of the valve, flow will occur. When the valve is closed, the hole is perpendicular to the ends of the valve, and flow is blocked. The handle or lever will be inline with the port position letting you “see” the valve’s position. The ball valve, along with the butterfly valve and plug valve, are part of the family of quarter turn valves. Ball valves are durable and usually work to achieve perfect shutoff even after years of disuse. They are therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications (and are often preferred to globe valves and gate valves for this purpose). They do not offer the fine control that may be necessary in throttling applications but are sometimes used for this purpose. Ball valves are used extensively in industrial applications because they are very versatile, supporting pressures up to 1000 bar and temperatures up to 752°F (500°C) depending on the ball valve design and material. Sizes typically range from 0.2 to 48 inches (0.5 cm to 121 cm). They are easy to repair and operate. The body of ball valves may [...]

Industrial Surplus Inc, North America’s pioneer surplus seller launches a nationwide campaign to buy new, used and surplus valves. This exclusive campaign does not just target at Valves only but a variety of surplus equipment, machinery and scrap metals. Industrial Surplus announced today that they will be making a buying trip to several cities and states nationwide to buy new, used and surplus valves. The president of Industrial Surplus, Gino Parker believes that often many businesses are not aware of the kind of money that is lying within their yards in surplus material. Often this material is over-ordered, not inventoried and miscalculated. Industrial Surplus Inc. provides the best service to help recover the most money for company’s Surplus Assets. For example: Ferguson Enterprises contacted Industrial Surplus to help with their FNW Surplus Valves. A representative flew to Ferguson’s headquarters and provided them with a quote for their entire FNW list that they consider Surplus or overstocked. Ferguson Enterprises was paid upfront and the Surplus Valves were shipped to customers overseas, who was in need of this exact quality of Surplus Valves. These are the types of valves that Industrial Surplus is looking forward to purchasing during a buying trip. If there is [...] Buy New and Used Valves
