Expert Repair & Failure Analysis

Related Model: Velan Securaseal — Trunnion Ball Valve. Sizes 2"-36", Classes 150-2500. Application: Pipeline, fire-safe, double block & bleed.

What Usually Goes Wrong

Stellite Seat Delamination: Stellite hardfacing on seats delaminates from thermal shock or improper welding during original manufacture. Creates leak path and debris that damages other components.

Repair: Remove old Stellite, prep surface, re-apply Stellite 6 weld overlay, machine to finish. Requires PWHT and NDE. Lead time: 4-6 weeks.

Bonnet Bolt Relaxation: Bonnet bolts lose preload from thermal cycling, causing body-bonnet gasket leak. External leak visible at joint. More common in high-temperature service (>500°F).

Repair: Re-torque bonnet bolts to proper sequence. If gasket is damaged, replace spiral wound gasket. For chronic issues, upgrade to live-loaded bolting. Lead time: 1-3 days for re-torque, 1-2 weeks for gasket replacement.

Repair Lead Time

Cryogenic valve repair: 4-8 weeks — special testing at cryogenic temperatures
